There is a significantly greater risk of getting cuts with an old, dull razor blade than with a new sharp one. With an older razor blade, you need to use more pressure to get a close shave, which is one of the most common causes of cuts. Shaving helps remove dead skin and gives it a healthier appearance. If you find that your skin becomes dry or irritated after shaving, it is probably because your skin is not sufficiently prepared before shaving. Use an emollient product such as shaving oil that softens the beard hairs before you start shaving.
