Rakning inför den stora dagen

Shaving for the big day

Whether it’s your own wedding or you’re a guest, most men face the same dilemma – to shave or not to shave? Of course, this is entirely dependent on your personal taste (and possibly the bride’s…) but there are some tips and tricks to help you bring out your best self on this important day!

Don’t make drastic changes

It may sound boring, but the most important thing on this particular day is that you feel like yourself, therefore it is not worth trying something completely new – the risk is that you do not recognize yourself.

Don’t follow trends

It can be tempting to start experimenting with a new look, but don’t forget that you should be able to look back at the wedding photos in 20 years and hopefully still like what you see!

Ignore the norms

Skip the old-fashioned thinking that the bigger the celebration, the more clean-shaven the face, if you like a clean-shaven face, it’s definitely the look to go for, but if you prefer yourself with a few days of stubble and a more relaxed style, there’s no reason to shave yourself on the wedding day.

… But make sure to groom yourself!

Even if you dress in a few days’ stubble, make sure to freshen up for the big day and clean up where needed. A casual look also requires effort not to look unfresh.

Don’t wait until the same day to choose the look

Saving the choice to shave or not until the morning of the big day is not a good idea. There is a great risk that it will be stressful and the shave will not be as careful as it should be, which increases the risk of cuts, for example. A really careful shave is also advantageously started a day or so before.

Be extra careful with the preparations!

To reflect on the above point, the preparation, for probably the most important shave of your life, is extremely important. For perfect results, you can plan your shave several days in advance. To minimize skin irritation, you should save your beard (if you’re either going to shave completely or where you’re going to trim) a couple of days before the wedding day. Be extra careful to pre-shave the products and preferably use oil to soften the hairs. Sharpen your razor or change the blade to avoid slipping and cutting yourself.
