A shaving stand may not be the first thing you think of when you want or intend to start wet shaving. After all, there are a lot of things that need to be acquired, safety razor, shaving brush, shaving soap or shaving cream, razor blades. In short, a lot of things you need that together can make a certain impression on your wallet. But a stand for your shaving tools such as a safety razor and or shaving brush can actually be a good thing to get right from the start. In the long run, it may even be profitable. Let us explain why in this post.
Less wear and tear with a straight stand
Your shaving tools, especially your safety razor and your shaving brush are two nice precious items that you hopefully want to last a long time. In order for them to do so, it can be good to avoid wear and tear on them if possible. Then a stand for them can be a good idea.
For example, if your safety razor is placed directly on the sink or in the bathroom cabinet, for example, there is both an increased risk of damage and, not least, of it coming into close contact with various bacteria and viruses that have settled on the surfaces. If it instead hangs upside down or with the shaving head in a stand, either a combined one for both the safety razor and the shaving brush or one for just the safety razor, there is less risk of bacteria spreading. The wear and tear on the metal is also slightly less when it hangs in a rack. In the long run, this can make the safety planer last longer due to less wear. In addition, if the safety razor is either hanging upside down or with the shaver head up, it is easier for the water to run off the safety razor and double razor blade. Which makes both last longer. In short, many good reasons to get a stand for your shaving tools.
The same applies to the shaving brush, and even to a greater extent. If the shaving brush is with the handle facing down, there is a great risk that moisture and moisture will find their way down into the sensitive shaving knot that holds the brush head of the shaving brush together. It may cause unnecessary wear and damage. If it is allowed to go on for a long time, it may mean that the shaving brush needs to be replaced.
To help you avoid wear and tear with the right stand for your shaving tools, we have indicated under each shaving stand, shaving brush and safety razor which ones are compatible with which to make it easier for you to choose a shaving stand, so that you can reduce wear and tear on your shaving tools.
Sleeker and easier with a shaving stand
With a shaving stand, it will also be easier to keep track of your shaving tools such as a safety razor and shaving brush. Since your shaving tools are hopefully hanging in the shaving rack, you always know where you have them. Something that makes it easier if and when you have to shave but at the same time feel stressed and or tired like in the morning. Instead of having to search, they are always there for you.
It also looks nicer than them lying somewhere in the bathroom cabinet or on the sink.
Which straight stand should I choose?
There are basically three types of shaving stands, combined shaving stands, i.e. shaving stands that are suitable for both safety razors and shaving brushes, then shaving stands for either a safety razor or shaving brush. Racks have a few different pros and cons that it can be good to know when choosing a straight rack that suits you.
The most important thing is always that you should choose what suits you and your needs best.
How do I know if the razor brush or razor I have is suitable for a particular rack?
Of course, we can only provide direct guidance and guidance online to the shaving stands, safety razors and shaving brushes we have in our range. But we also of course help to the extent we can and have the opportunity to answer whether other safety razors, shaving brushes and shaving stands fit together. Feel free to contact us and we will tell you more.
Combined racks
Combined racks are suitable for both a safety razor and a shaving brush. Something that is very practical, especially if you have little space to store your shaving tools. Plus, it’s easy to find them if the safety razor and shaving brush are together. But there are also disadvantages. Combined racks are not suitable for all safety razors and shaving brushes together. Something that can be good to know before you get a rack. Under our shaving brushes, safety razors and combined racks, we have indicated which racks are suitable for which products. Keep in mind that even if a razor brush or safety razor of a particular make and model fits, the matching shaving tool may not do. In addition, which products are suitable for which racks. If you are still in doubt, please get in touch. We are happy to help you find a rack that suits your needs.
In the vast majority of cases, the combined racks come from the German company Mühle, which has been manufacturing various accessories for wet shaving for a long time, and of course also shaving brushes and safety razors. Mühle has a number of different design series, where the series has one or more racks that fit.
Stand for shaving brushes
If nothing else, we definitely think you should get a stand for your shaving brush. This means that your fine shaving brush lasts longer by being fresher and has less risk of wear and tear and other damage. The disadvantage is of course that you will need to have your safety razor in a separate rack. Something that you can of course have, but then you still need a stand for your shaving brush. As with the combined stands, not all shaving brush racks fit all shaving brushes. But we have indicated which shaving brushes are suitable for which shaving brush racks. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.
In addition to combined stands, Mühle has several racks that fit both their and others’ shaving brushes. All to keep your shaving brush fresh for a long time.
Stand for razors
We think that a stand for your safety razor, the shaving tool that is still the main and most central among your shaving tools, is a matter of course. In addition, it keeps the safety razor fresher and there is less risk of bacteria spreading with a stand for razors. At the same time, it is once again that not all racks for razors fit all safety razors. Therefore, it is important to make sure that you choose the right rack that fits your particular safety razor.
When it comes to Rockwell safety razor stands, these are only suitable for most Rockwell safety razors.
Take good care of your rack
Like everything else, it is important to take good care of your shaving rack. It’s relatively simple, but there are a few things that can be good to keep in mind.
Rinse off your rack regularly. Keep in mind that soap residue and other residual products from your shave, such as skin deposits and other things, can get stuck here and spread from here. Therefore, you should keep your rack clean. Most of the time, it is enough to just rinse it under lukewarm water. Strong detergents can have a corrosive effect on the surface. If necessary, you can use a clean brush to clean your rack a little more thoroughly.
To clean the place more thoroughly, you can use a small amount of alcohol, which hopefully has a disinfectant effect against bacteria and viruses.
Keep in mind that your stand can be fragile and that the shaving tools can cause damage if handled incorrectly. Therefore, keep the stand and shaving tools out of the reach of children.
Do not use your regular dirty towel or anything else to clean your rack, it can contribute to the spread of viruses and bacteria.
