Mercury 34C
34C is the safety razor that most people, including us at Shavingroom, recommend from our own experience as the first safety razor for those who are curious about wet shaving.
Why do we and others recommend this particular safety razor? It is a very high-quality safety razor that is easy to use. The short, sturdy handle fits well in most hands. The closed comb and the razor’s moderate aggressiveness – that is, only a small portion of the razor blade is exposed – make it an excellent choice for beginners. In addition, the planer is robust and made entirely of metal, which provides long durability.
Of course, it can be used with all the double razor blades we sell.
The short handle makes the razor both grippy and very precise, which reduces the risk of cuts when shaving wet.
Also available in an extra elegant version with a gold-plated handle and shaving head.
Mercury 38C
The 38C can most easily be described as a slightly larger variant of the 34C. It is also called the Barber Pole, after the classic barber’s pole that is often found outside barbershops. The main difference between this and the 34C is that the 38C has a longer handle.
A longer handle can be beneficial if you have larger hands and find that a shorter handle does not provide good enough grip. It can also make it easier to access hard-to-reach areas where safety razors with shorter handles are not enough.
Of course, this model can also be used with all the double razor blades we sell.
Available in two designs, either one with a fully chromed surface, or one with a partially black handle made of aluminum. It is also called Merkur 38C.
Mercury 33C
The 33C, like the 34C, has a shorter handle. However, the handle is much narrower and suitable for those who think the heavier handle on the 34C feels too clumsy and rough.
This safety planer is a good choice for those who want a light and narrow planer. Like other short-handle safety planers, it offers very good precision.
The 30C is an option with a slightly changed design and a handle made of black aluminium.
Like most other safety razors, this one has a closed comb and can be used with all the double razor blades we sell.
Mercury 37C
The 37C is an innovative development of Merkur’s safety razors. Instead of the usual straight or open comb, this planer has a slightly angled comb.
The angled comb makes it easier to shave particularly coarse beard hairs in thicker beards, where a regular straight safety razor may not reach as effectively. Although it requires a slightly more experienced and steady hand than a razor with a straight comb, with this one you can get a closer shave.
Despite the angled head, this safety razor can be used with all the double razor blades we sell.
The relatively short shaft also makes it easy to grip and provides very good precision.
Also available with a slightly longer handle (Model 39C) for those who want, for example, a safety razor that can reach hard-to-reach places, or a safety planer that fits slightly larger hands.
Mercury Futur
Futur is the safety razor for those who want that little extra. It comes in two variants: one with a brushed finish and one with a chrome finish.
What sets the Futur apart from other models is its fully adjustable shaving head. What does this mean? This means that you can adjust the shaver head to different angles to get exactly the blade exposure and shaving angle you desire.
Like all other models, the Futur can be used with all the double razor blades we sell.
The slightly shorter handle fits most hands and is available in two different designs: a brushed and a chromed version.
