Frequently asked questions about Eau de Parfum
What is an Eau de Parfum?
An Eau de Parfum is a type of men’s perfume or men’s fragrance with a relatively high proportion of concentrated perfume oil, somewhere between 15 to 20 percent it contains. This also means that it contains a significantly smaller amount of alcohol than, for example, an Eau de Cologne. Therefore, it is slightly kinder to the skin. Since an EdP contains a very high amount of concentrated perfume oil, the scent is significantly more intense and noticeable than other varieties with a smaller amount of perfume oil. It also means that significantly less EdP is needed.
How long does an Eau de Parfum last?
An Eau de Parfum lasts about as long as other types of perfume, perhaps slightly longer. The initial scent, the top notes stay on for maybe half an hour, the core notes stay on for about one to two hours, finally the base notes can stay on for six hours. At the same time, it is important to remember that the scent from one EdP is much more intense than the others, therefore the different fragrance notes will be much more obvious. Usually the clearest notes are the first, then they become slightly lower and then slowly end. This is also the case with an EdP but all three scents will be significantly more noticeable. Even if you only use a small amount.
What should I consider when buying an Eau de Parfum?
As mentioned earlier, an Eau de Parfum has a higher proportion of perfume oil or fragrance essence compared to, for example, an Eau De Cologne. Something that makes the scent both more intense and lasts longer. It can also make an Eau de Parfum in a man’s fragrance wardrobe slightly better suited for leisure time or not least for special occasions.
