Razors
Ideal for traditional wet shaving, should be used with a groomer. Perhaps the most sustainable way to shave. Properly cared for, a razor will last a lifetime. For those who want to shave their beard or head in the most traditional way.
What is a razor?
A razor is a traditional shaving tool for wet shaving. A razor has a handle and a knife blade, often made of carbon steel, although stainless steel versions are available. Carbon steel is preferred because of its ability to sharpen into an extremely fine edge, which is essential for achieving a close and gentle shave. The use of a shave is recommended to maintain the sharpness of the blade, which is necessary to ensure an effective and irritation-free shave.
The razor can have different sharpenings, which affect its flexibility and shaving properties, as well as varying widths and tips to suit different user needs and preferences.
Shaves
Works with single-sharpened shavette blades or double-sharpened double-sharpened razor blades. A very durable way to shave and less maintenance than a razor. A great choice whether you want to shave your beard or head.
What is a shavette?
A shavette is a shaving tool that offers a shaving experience similar to that of a traditional razor but without the same maintenance requirements. The shavette uses interchangeable blades, either single-sharpened shavette blades or halved double-shave blades, eliminating the need for sharpening and strapping.
This type of shaving tool is ideal for those who desire the precision and feel of a razor shave but prefer easier operation and maintenance. A great choice for both beard and head shaving.
Razor blades
Choose between single-sharpened shavette blades or double-razor blades. Both the single-sharpened shavette blades and the double-razor blades are made entirely of metal and can therefore be recycled. Therefore, significantly more durable than, for example, multi-blade systems for razors that contain plastic.
What types of razor blades does Shavingroom have?
Shavingroom provides two main types of razor blades: double-cut razor blades and single-sharpened shavette blades. Both types of blades are excellent for both beard and head shaving.
The double razor blades are designed to fit all safety razors in our range and are available in different degrees of sharpening, from very mild to very aggressive, to cater for a range of skin types and shaving preferences.
Single-sharpened shavette blades are intended for use in shavettes and offer a sharp and precise shave.
Shaving brushes
Available in badger brush variants such as pure badger, fine badger, super badger and silver tip badger as well as synthetic options such as silver tip fibres and black fibre, plus pure bristle. Whether you shave either your beard and head, the use of a shaving brush is recommended.
What is a shaving brush?
Shaving brushes are an essential tool in traditional wet shaving and are available with different types of brush materials to suit different preferences and budgets. Makes it easier to apply the shaving foam to your face or head.
What is a badger hair shaving brush?
Badger hair shaving brushes (badger) are prized for their ability to create a rich lather and offer different levels of quality, including pure badger, fine badger, super badger, and silvertip badger, with each category representing different degrees of softness and density.
What is a synthetic bristle shaving brush?
Shaving brushes with synthetic bristles, such as black fibre and silvertip fibre, have become increasingly popular due to their durability and quick-drying properties. These brushes are also a great option for those with allergies to pet hair or who are looking for vegan options.
What is a shaving brush with boar bristles?
Straight bristles with boar bristles, also known as pure bristle, are an affordable option that offers rigidity and durability, which can be especially beneficial for lifting and softening densely grown beard hairs.

Which shaving tools are right for me?
Are you thinking about which shaving tools are right for you for your wet shave?
Safety razor and shaving brush
For those who are curious about wet shaving, a safety razor combined with double razor blades is an excellent starting option. It offers an effective and relatively easy introduction to the world of wet shaving. To enhance the experience even further, a shaving brush is an obvious choice. Both a safety razor and a shaving brush can be used for both beard and head shaving.
Shavette or razor
If you’re seeking a closer and more authentically traditional shaving experience, a shavette or a razor is worth considering. The shavette, which requires less maintenance than a razor, offers a similar feel and precision but with greater convenience. The razor is the epitome of traditional wet shaving, providing a unique and deeply personal shaving routine.
Ultimately, the choice depends on your personal style, how much time you’re willing to invest in your shaving routine, and what kind of shaving experience you most value. Both shavette and razor can be used for both beard and head shaving.
Care and advice for your shaving tools
Safety razor
To optimize the lifespan and function of a safety razor, proper care is essential. Place the planer in a rack after each use to facilitate water run-off and prevent cross-contamination with surfaces. Use a clean toothbrush and lukewarm water for regular cleaning and removal of shaving residue. It is also important to change the double razor blade regularly when you notice that it becomes dull to maintain a safe and effective shave.
Razor
To maintain the optimal sharpness and longevity of a razor, regular maintenance with a sharpener is essential. Groom the knife before each use to achieve two important goals: to remove any particles stuck to the blade and to straighten any microscopic bends on the edge of the blade. These steps ensure that the blade is as sharp and even as possible, resulting in a smoother and more efficient shave.
After use, avoid rinsing the razor under running water. Instead, wipe the blade gently with a clean and dry towel to avoid rust and corrosion. By following these care instructions, you can extend the life of your razor and ensure its performance over time.
Shaving brush
To optimally maintain a shaving brush and extend its life, it is important that it is stored correctly. After use, the shaving brush should be rinsed thoroughly in clean water to remove all lather and beard residue. After that, the brush should be hung with the brush head facing down in a rack. This vertical positioning allows the water to drain efficiently out of the brush, protecting the adhesive joint in the knot and reducing the risk of water being absorbed into the handle or mould forming.
Hanging the brush upside down also reduces the risk of cross-contamination with other surfaces, which contributes to hygienic storage. Regular cleaning and proper storage ensure that the quality and function of the shaving brush is maintained over time.
