Before shaving
In the category of products before shaving, there are products to use before the actual wet shave. These types of products are called pre-shaves. The main purpose of a pre-shave product is to hydrate the skin and create an additional protective layer between the skin and the razor blade or razor. Something that can help and prevent skin problems such as irritation and cuts, for example.
Pre-shaves come in a few different forms such as oil, lotion, soap and gel. Some of the products can be used both before and after shaving.
Which pre-shave product you choose is up to you. There are pre-shave products that contain perfume and fragrance free ones.
We recommend using a pre-shave product, especially if you have extra sensitive skin and easily get discomfort and problems when shaving.
Pre-shave oil
Pre-shave oil or shaving oil is an oil-based product that is used before wet shaving to moisturize the skin and create a protective layer between the skin and the razor blade or razor. A pre-shave oil or shaving oil, like other similar products, does not need to be wiped or rinsed off before applying shaving cream or shaving soap. A pre-shave oil or shaving oil can also be used as a beard oil to moisturize the beard in most cases.
Pre-shave lotion (cream)
A pre-shave lotion usually has a slightly creamier texture than the oil. Although there are also looser options. Used in the same way as other types of pre-shave products. Usually available in a matching scent together with shaving cream/shaving soap and aftershave products. Something that makes it easy and pleasant to get a lasting shaving experience with a lovely scent throughout the wet shave.
Pre-shave soap (solid soap)
A pre-shave soap is the most economical of all the options in pre-shave products. Here too, there are options both with and without fragrance. A fragrance-free pre-shave soap is a great choice because it can be matched with any other shaving cream or shaving soap. Like the other products, do not rinse off or wipe off before use. If you need to apply more shaving cream or shaving soap, you don’t need to apply more pre-shave soap.
During shaving
In the category under shaving are the products that are most central to wet shaving, shaving cream and shaving soap.
Shaving cream
The shaving cream is available either in a can, tube or bottle. Which one you use is up to you and your preferences. There are shaving creams that have a very mild scent to shaving creams that smell more. The shaving cream can in almost all cases be combined with a matching aftershave at a discounted price. There are also products that are classified as shaving gel. A big advantage of a lot of types of shaving cream is that they can be used without a shaving brush. Something that makes it somewhat easier to apply.
Shaving soap
A classic shaving soap, either in a bowl or as a refill, which is suitable for most shaving cups, is a very good and good way to shave. A shaving soap almost always requires a shaving brush to use. But the advantage is that a shaving soap lasts a very long time. This means that you get a lot of wonderful shaves out of it.
We have shaving soap with both animal products such as tallow and shaving soaps that contain only vegetable products. Many are completely vegan.
In our warehouse shop at Kommendörsgatan 38 in Stockholm, we offer the opportunity to smell a number of our shaving soaps and shaving creams.
Here we can also help you with tips and advice, as well as suggestions on which shaving soap or shaving cream is right for you.
After shaving
Here you will find our selection of aftershaves. Aftershave is divided into Balm, lotion and splash.
Aftershave balm
An aftershave balm is the type of product that is recommended for the vast majority of skin types, especially for those who have sensitive skin. Something that distinguishes an aftershave balm is that it usually has a very high and good moisturizing effect. It also soothes the skin very well after a wet shave. Some aftershave balms can also be used before wet shaving to hydrate the skin. As with other pre-shave products, it should not be rinsed or wiped off before using shaving soap or shaving cream.
Aftershave lotion
An aftershave lotion is generally slightly looser in texture than a balm is. Additionally, a lotion can sometimes contain a smaller amount of alcohol. Something that is unusual among balm. There is also aftershave lotion completely without alcohol. Suitable especially if you may feel that a balm is a little too greasy or sticky and want a looser alternative. An aftershave lotion, on the other hand, works best to use only after the actual wet shave.
Aftershave splash
Aftershave splash is the most classic type of aftershave products and sometimes also what is called aftershave. The purpose of an aftershave splash in particular is to be antiseptic or antibacterial. This means that the product’s main property is to kill bacteria and viruses that can be at risk of ending up in small cuts that can occur during shaving. Usually contains alcohol which can have a drying and sometimes painful effect on the skin, especially if it is damaged. Recommended especially for normal skin.
Irritation and cuts
Here you will find products that help prevent irritation and cuts that can occur during wet shaving. For example, alum sticks and alum stones.
